Sunshine
I don't think the contractors thought of this design before they completed the concrete railing. Either that or they didn't figure on when the sun got to that side of it, what it would look like. Hope you girls out there enjoy this one, I sure got a kick out of it.
What a Bummer!
What a Bummer!
We placed a coupon in the new BSU Blue Mag for the season. ( BSU is our football team, Boise State Broncos). We thought, Great! 45,000 people will get our coupon and it'll bring in more business and maybe new customers. Well, when we got the magazine, the editing dept. for some reason made our coupon 1/2 the size. So needless to say, we were very upset and demanded our money back. We were even supposed to get one of the magazines autographed by probably one of the players, but no, we didn't receive that either. Well, we finally got the check back today and then we put on Twitter and on out marquis board outside, " Pg. 69 BSU Blue Mag, Size Does Matter. I think that will make a point, don't you?

In Rememberance
In Rememberance
I was reading a story that reminded me of something that happened when I was still living in Seaside, OR. It was Christmas Break (correction here) for the school and a group of kids decided to drive to Tillamook to the cheese factory to get ice cream. They made the best ice cream there and they had a nice little cafe where you could sit and have lunch and dessert. It had been raining that day and alot of the roads were wet and even puddled up in quite a few places. Tiffany, and four of her friends all piled in a car, which only seated 4 but one scrunched between the back two passengers. Tiffany was in front and her boyfriend was in back. Part way there, she decided she wanted to switch places to sit next to her boyfriend. So sho switched. She was then in the middle in the back seat. Which of course, didn't have a seatbelt for the middle person. The driver wasn't a bad driver, but being young, these were all seniors, he wasn't very experienced either. The car just happened to hit a wet spot on the road and hydroplaned. They crashed, four were injured pretty badly, one fatal. It was Tiffany. She had snapped her neck when they hit. It ended her short life way too soon. My son came home from school just crying. He is the middle child and very sensitive anyway, but this was different. He was heartbroken. Tiffany was one of his best friends. She had just celebrated her 18th birthday just before Spring Break and he wanted to get her something nice. I helped him pick out a set of earrings and a necklace in her birthstone. He had taken it to school the first day back from Spring Break. He came home with it, but I hadn't seen that he had it. I asked how Tiffany liked her gift. He just busted out crying. He told me what happened. The next thing I knew, I got a call from a counselor at the school telling me what happened to Tiffany. I couldn't believe it. I just held my son and let him cry. The whole school shut down that day. Tiffany had been involved in every sport there was, everything that went on at school, she was a part of. And she was her parents only child. The memorial they had for her was so heartfelt, touching, and full of almost the whole school and town. Her favorite color was yellow and I made a bouquet of yellow roses and baby's breath for her parents, which they displayed as you came into the church. After the ceremony, they had a reception at the convention center where they had walls of her pictures from school, all the things she was ever involved in, her letters, accomodations, anything that had to do with her life, it was there. Afterwards, I hadn't really learned how to do scrapbooking yet, but I decided to put together a scrapbook with everything I had about Tiffany. I had collected pictures, stories, all kinds of things. I even saved a few petal from one of the roses from her bouquet I made. I put this book together for my son who, to this day, still carries it around with him. Wherever he goes, it's right there wherever he is living at. Her parents are heads of the Miss Oregon Pagent held in Seaside every year, and they have set up a Tiffany Phillips Scholarship Program that one lucky girl wins every year. She has been and will always be missed.
Canadian Visitors
Canadian Visitors
We had some visitors from Alberta, Canada the other day and they just sent us pictures and a thank you letter for bringing Boobie down to the restaurant so they could meet her. When they came to Boise, they were told they were being taken to Boobies for lunch. They thought that was the greatest thing and when they learned it was names after our dog, they had to meet her. So David went home to get her and brought her down. They were so excited and had to get pictures taken with her. The first picture was a good one, but the second picture, they got her when she was yawning. It was sunny and hot that day and she would have rather been home in the air conditioned house. She is getting older, and seems like she cannot withstand the heat like she used to. But she braved the heat to make an appearance for them.
Idaho Al
Idaho Al
There is a gentleman who goes by the name of Idaho Al. He is 85 years of age and a real go getter. I called him an old codger one time before he finally came in. He kept calling us at the restaurant and hasseling us about our chili we make. He said he heard it was like Tommy's in California and we made that claim. We kept telling him we didn't say that, someone else did after they had a Boobie Burger, which comes with a little chili in it. So after we told him to quit hasseling us and get in here to eat, he finally did. He kept asking for frankfurters. We have two sizes of hot dogs and we don't call them frankfurters, but whatever. He came in and proceeded to give me a bad time that our sauerkraut which we had on the condiment counter (in ice) was not supposed to be served cold on a "hot" dog. I went to get my other half out to deal with him. He finally settled down and apologized for rattling my nerves and said he was only kidding around with me. Now he comes in every so often and has his hotdog with everything on it. He is a funny old guy but has the heart of a kid still. His picture is on my pnn home page.
Oh Dear, Al did it again! I got a call the other day from an elderly gentleman, (I should have known), who asked for Steven. After telling him there was no one here by that name, and he was very persistant, like usual, I told him this was a business and there was no one here named Steven. He called back and then proceeded to tell me who he was, I about flipped and handed the phone to David, telling him Here, it's Al. Then I said out loud, I'll get him next time! He thought it was pretty funny.
New Customers
New Customers
What a day we had! The cutest thing happened. We were sitting visiting with David's niece and two of our regular customers when all of a sudden we started getting all these people in the restaurant. I thought it was lunch time for everyone that worked together, like we've gotten in before. I found out from one of the customers they all live down the street in a housing development and all decided to come check us out for lunch. David jumped up and ran to the kitcken while I was taking orders. His neice jumped in a helped get drinks and run food out. They just kept coming in and the tables were full. We can seat 32 as of now. We are planning to build outside seating for the summer. I think we need it after today. Anyway, I was still taking orders when these two cute boston terriers came in the back where I was. They had collars and tags on them, and I thought they belonged to one of the many customers we had. I went out front and asked everyone if they had two bostons they brought with them. No one brought them. Someone told me the dogs came in with everyone. Both the dogs were female, mothers recently and very hungry. As soon as we could, we found out by the tags who to call. The owner came down and retrieved them. I was really surprised to see them here and the fact that they both have puppies at home. But I heard that if they are really hungry and not getting something at home, they will go look for food. Somehow, they knew we had food here and decided to stop in for lunch. We had leftover hotdogs we couldn't resell so we cut them up and fed them, and also a big bowl of water. They were happy and almost didn't want to leave. If they get loose again, I expect to see them again.

Well, the 31st is Monday. And thanks to the Navy, Joe and Linda Ball, Honks $ Store and others, we have a box full of supplies to take to the local elementary school to donate for the kids. We want to thank everyone who helped bring supplies down for the kids and we will look forward to more events like this all through the school year.

Racing Boobies
Racing Boobies
We sponser a young girl who races at the Meridian Speedway. Her name is Heather and she is only 15. Her first race she kind of crashed into the wall, then got sandwiched between 5 cars. The car got a few dings and dents and scrapes, but the driver is fine. She is well protected in her car. Our name, "Boobies" is on the front hood of her car and she has one of our "Honk if you Love Boobies" bumper stickers on the back of the car. We haven't had a chance to see her race yet, she races on Saturdays and we haven't been able to get away since Saturdays are one of our busier days. See the car on my pnn page.
Update on Heather's car. We just learned today that Heather has gone into the wall so much, either by accident or she was pushed into it, that it's put her car out of commission for the remainder of the race season. We give her lots of credit and a big pat on the back for trying as hard as she did. She did very well and we hope she will go back at it the next race season. We will be there rooting for her. We did go see her race on the fourth of July. That was a good race. I have pictures I will post as soon as I get them set up.
New update on Heather. When she is all done with the car, since it really can't be repaired to race again, we get the hood of the car that has our logo on it and we're puttinh it on the rooftop of our hamburger hut in the restaurant. We'll take a picture as soon as we get it done and I'll attach it.

Mom's Day Dinner
Somehow, my dinner story disappeared so I have to redo it. There is a place in town called Tucanos Brazilian Grill. Cool Restaurant, but go hungry and eat slow. We took David's mom there for Mother's Day dinner. Very different from what I've experienced so far. They have a huge salad bar, 60 items to choose from. You get as much as you want. At the table, you have these small plates, almost dessert size for the entrees they bring around. They do 13 rotations with these big skewers of meats, grilled veggies and grilled pineapple you can choose to eat or not, They will give you a slice or piece of each unless you ask for more. The guys, not used to eating a piece of this and a piece of that, wanted more. Well, some of us learned not to do that again. With the salad bar, the different meats with the glazes, marinades and sauces on them, the vessies, pineapple and then there is dessert if you have room. Be careful, I had a piece of white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Which was fine until the next day. I had to keep running to the restroom all day and it kept up for three days. I thought I had the flu or something, but it was the combination of all the different foods and flavors that got me. Was it worth $19.95 a person? Well, the food was good and the cheesecake was the best but if I go back, I will be careful of which foods I eat. If you are near one, check it out. I heard there is one in Utah, a couple in Nevada, and one in New Mexico.
